A 200 KB limit is a common one on visa applications, university portals, and older document-management systems. It is roomier than a 100 KB cap but still tight enough that a normal "compress" pass usually overshoots it. This page targets 200 KB specifically: it rasterizes each page and then lowers the render scale and JPEG quality in small steps, re-measuring the file after every step, and stops as soon as the result is under 200 KB. That way the output is only as degraded as it needs to be to clear the limit — no more. A one- or two-page document, especially a scan, will normally get there comfortably with the text still legible. A longer PDF may not fit without losing readability; if that happens you will get the smallest version the tool could reach, plus a suggestion to split the file and compress each part on its own. The whole process runs locally in your browser, so there is no file-size cap on the input and nothing is transmitted anywhere.
